Sub terra
is about the quest for origins which helps to better question the future of humanity. The cave is linked to humans by image, as a sanctuary, a place of ritual where man explores himself. I approached the cave as an organ where one gets lost through its chasms, cracks and meanders, because in order to understand it one has to interfere in these bowels. We let ourselves be drawn into this underground interior which contains this quest for meaning and becomes a space for introspection.
The fact that it can only be perceived in snatches and not in its entirety, feeds the imagination of an infinite abyss : we are both caught up and moved by the desire to move forward, to explore. As in an infinite labyrinth, we try to grasp it, to understand this collective past, this quest for meaning becomes materialized in the path of the cave.
